Mamma Mingle began the way most good things do - with a conversation.
Two mums.
No village.
Babies in arms.
Big feelings.
Bigger questions.
Canberra can be transient. Families are interstate. Support systems don’t always land where you need them.
So instead of waiting for someone else to create the space, we created it ourselves.
Something simple.
Something warm.
Something that felt more like walking into a friend’s lounge room than attending a “group.”
That was the beginning.
What It Is
Mamma Mingle is a free, community-led gathering for pregnant mums and mothers with little ones aged 0–2.
It’s not a lecture.
It’s not a playgroup.
It’s not therapy.
It’s connection.
It’s sitting in a circle and realising:
You’re not the only one.
You’re not behind.
You’re not failing.
It’s honest chats about sleep, feeding, identity, overwhelm, joy and everything in between.
It’s building friendships that last far beyond the newborn stage.
Why It Matters
Because motherhood is too big to do alone.
Because connection shouldn’t depend on whether it’s your first baby.
Because waiting months for support isn’t good enough.
Because sometimes what changes everything isn’t advice - it’s being seen.
Mamma Mingle now supports over 1,800 women across Canberra. Entirely self-funded. Entirely built on community.
Every session is free.
