Our Story
Est. 2020
When TLCco co-founder Micaela moved to Canberra without her village of mum friends. Knowing how isolating early motherhood can be—especially without other mums in the trenches at the same time —she created the community she couldn’t find.
In 2026, Anna stepped in to lead the program. Her calm strength and deep empathy shape the heart of the group, ensuring every mum feels seen. Unfortunately, in May we had to close our in-person program due to funding difficulties. Hopefully one day we can resume this important program.
Together, we’ve built something special: a community, a lifeline, and a place to land.
Why Mum's Need Their Village
Why It Matters
- 1 in 3 mothers experience perinatal anxiety or depression
- 70% of Australian mums feel isolated in their baby’s first year
- ACT Government-run mothers’ groups are only offered for first-time mums
- Public waitlists for postnatal mental health support are often 3–6 months long
Add to that Canberra’s transient population, where 36% have relocated from interstate and 28% are born overseas, and you can see why this work matters.
