An Important Update About Mamma Mingle

An Important Update About Mamma Mingle

When we first created Mamma Mingle, it came from a very simple place — we saw a gap.

As mums ourselves, we knew how isolating motherhood could feel. Particularly after your first baby, when many of the formal support systems and connection opportunities begin to disappear. The expectation somehow becomes that you’ll just keep going, quietly and independently, while juggling even more.

We believed mums deserved better than that.

So alongside TLCco, we built Mamma Mingle as a space centred around connection, community and care. A place where women could arrive exactly as they were — exhausted, overwhelmed, excited, lonely, joyful or somewhere in between — and know they’d be met with warmth and understanding.

Over the years, Mamma Mingle has grown into something far bigger and more meaningful than we ever imagined.

We’ve watched friendships form between complete strangers. We’ve seen mums support one another through sleepless nights, postpartum struggles, new pregnancies, returning to work, toddler chaos and life’s many transitions. We’ve seen phone numbers exchanged, coffee dates arranged, tears shared and villages quietly built.

And for that, we will always be incredibly proud.

Unfortunately, after a great deal of consideration, we’ve made the very difficult decision to close Mamma Mingle as a formal program following our final sessions in June.

This decision has not been made lightly.

Like many small and micro businesses across Australia right now, we are navigating increasing operational pressures behind the scenes. Over the past year we have worked incredibly hard to keep Mamma Mingle sustainable — applying for grants, seeking affordable community spaces, restructuring budgets and continuing to fund the program wherever possible through TLCco itself.

Recently, we received updated insurance costs at almost three times what they were last year, and despite every effort to make the numbers work, we’ve reached a point where we can no longer sustainably continue the program in its current form.

Honestly, we’re heartbroken.

Mamma Mingle has never been about profit. It has always existed because we genuinely believed community and connection for mothers mattered.

We also want to acknowledge two very special women who helped shape Mamma Mingle into what it became.

Our beautiful friend Sam, who oversaw Mamma Mingle for such a significant portion of its journey and helped create the warm and welcoming environment so many mums came to love.

And Anna, who stepped into the huge role of head cheerleader this year and worked tirelessly to keep the space grounded in genuine connection, care and community.

To every mum who attended a session: thank you.

Thank you for showing up.
Thank you for sharing your stories.
Thank you for allowing yourselves to be vulnerable.
Thank you for helping other women feel less alone.

You are the reason Mamma Mingle mattered.

While formal sessions will come to an end, our Mamma Mingle Facebook community will remain open as a place for mums to continue connecting, arranging catch ups and supporting one another — because even though this chapter is closing, we still believe deeply in the importance of village-style community.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of this journey.

With love,

Micaela & Jane x
